"Dear Pam, thanks again for your help with altering my bridesmaid's dress. I must say, mine fit the best of all seven bridesmaids."
~ Sarah

What is the Process?

  • Just call for a no-obligation, complimentary one-hour consultation in my studio. Bring photos, ads, sketches, or even commercial patterns showing the styles and details you like. We discuss your needs and preferences so I can develop a design for your approval. Preliminary cost estimates are given within a range.
  • Because I do not stock and sell fabrics, fabric selection and purchase are separate from my labor cost. There are several ways to obtain the fabric:
    • You may purchase it yourself.
    • I can order it for you.
    • I will shop locally with you for an hourly charge.
  • At the next visit, careful measurements are taken. In some cases, I then construct a toile (a muslin prototype of your dress) as a tool for perfecting the fit.
  • From the initial consultation to the presentation of the finished garment, a total of three to six visits are usually required.
  • It is very important that the shoes and undergarments you intend to wear with the garment be brought to every fitting, because figure support and posture are critical to accurate fit.
  • Bridal gowns require a minimum of five months' lead time.
  • In general, I cannot quote alterations prices without evaluating the actual garment.
